These little speakers are by a long way one of the best looking and sounding speakers for desk-top applications that we’ve seen. We were originally enthralled by their looks, but when we received a pair to listen to, the sound quality just put a smile on our faces! -You can’t really believe that such a big sound can come out of such a small box.
The trick it seems is not to have a crossover in the conventional sense, but to try to reduce the distortions within the drive unit to a minimum, and to apply filtering to compensate for the enclosure size.
The result is simply delightful!
The finish is simple with engineered bamboo front and backs with a leather cased centre panel. They feel very solid and substantial with a tiny 3″ single drive unit, however the sound stage is epic considering their size.
Serene have active or passive versions – the active version features a DSP based amplifier with a auto-detecting subwoofer connection. The DSP changes the filtering to the drive unit if it detects a sub is attached, so there is only the sub level to set up according to taste.
The 20W internal amplifier is quite punchy, and produces a very enjoyable sound. Come and listen to them in our showroom – we’re sure you’ll be as impressed as us! Prices etc. are on the Serene Audio page of our web site

Serene Audio also have the Paisley and Pebble styles in their range. There is a choice of Natural or caramel bamboo, with Black or white leather finishes and both Active and Passive versions.
