Linn Akurate Exakt system: our new featured product of the week
The major difference between a conventional HiFi and the Linn Exakt system is that the connection to the speakers is a digital one – via Linn’s proprietary Exakt Link, which uses standard Cat5 data cable.
The Philosophy behind the Exakt system is all about removing losses encountered from the studio to your listening room. see Linn’s video below for more details on Exakt technology:
In effect the where the Linn Akurate DSM is an high quality DAC and streaming player, The Akurate Exakt DSM is a high quality ADC and streaming controller. We were impressed with the conventional Akubarik active speakers, however the Exakt system takes it to a whole new level. The 5-way intelligent amplifier mounted in a suspended “chimney” at the back of each speaker, allows the manufacturing tolerances in each drive unit to be individually mapped and compensated for. It means that more than ever before, the resulting sound can be as free as possible from phase and amplitude distortion and produce a coherent and relaxed sound.
The Akurate Exakt DSM provides enough connections for even the most demanding of modern installations with 10 digital inputs, and 3 analogue inputs with a configurable Phono stage. The internal streaming player will play up to 24bit 192KHz music streams in a wide array of formats including airplay, and there is a Linn application (Songcast) that even allows you to stream direct from your desktop or laptop in place of your sound card.
More details can be found on the Linn Web site.
We have an Akurate Exakt launch evening on the 9th July at 18:30, more details are here.
