Linn Lounge presents… The Mumford and Sons evening at the end of January was a great success, and our thanks go out to James from Linn for another well prepared and informative presentation.
Sadly due to the pressure on James’ time we cannot have a Mark Knopfler Linn Lounge. If you are interested, we have however put a copy of the script for this evening on our web site (see the Blog Page): This means the next Linn Lounge Presents evening will be on the 11th March from 7pm and this time will feature Amy Winehouse.

Pink Floyd SACD Evening 15th Feb
We’ve got so excited about the Linn Lounge Evenings, we will be running a Pink Floyd evening, featuring the 5.1 channel SACD version of “Dark Side of the Moon” plus “Wish you were here”, and other Music played on our reference system.
We’ll be starting from about 6:30pm, and are planning a very informal gathering (probably with a foray to the local Chinese take-away)

New Products from Naim Naim Audio have launched two new products. Designed to work together the DAC-V1 (above) and NAP-100 (right) are aimed at getting the best of audio stored on your computer. The DAC features 5 digital inputs (3 coax, 2 optical) coupled with a USB input, and can resolve 24bits at up to 384KHz. Add to this a precision volume control and integral headphone amplifier this is sure to be popular. The NAP-100 will generate 50W into 8ohms which is enough for most small rooms, and the compact design means it’ll sit nicely under the DAC for a compact HiFi to attach your computer to. The DAC-V1 is £1250, and the NAP-100 is £650.

Sony VPL-VW1000ES
We’ve just seen this new 4k projector from Sony, and are hugely impressed with the picture from it. There’s not much in the way of 4k sources yet, however the image from regular 1080p sources is spectacular. At £16,799, it’s a high-end projector, however it has the performance to match. Specs etc. can be found on the Sony web site by clicking the picture above.

Last call for Linn DS upgrades
The last date Linn are accepting orders for updates to the pre- Oct 2010 Akurate DS and pre – May 2011 Klimax DS is the 19th February. The upgrades cost £1500 for the Akurate DS and £1900 for the Klimax DS. Linn are also offering a renew DS re-using the old boards from the DS so you effectively get another DS source to use in another room. Including the upgrades, these cost £3000 for the Akurate, and £4250 for the Klimax.

Bristol HiFi Show This year the Bristol HiFi Show will be from the 22nd to the 24th of February. We will be there supporting DALI with some Electronics again. We had very positive feedback last year, with many people taking the trouble to tell us that we had the best sounding room at the show!
