The human ear is an incredibly sensitive and precise sensor, capable of detecting really minute differences in phase from incoming sound, which allows you to detect where the sound is coming from. If the playback of recorded sound doesn’t include those minute differences, you cannot accurately place where the sound is coming from, and the audio becomes jumbled and confused. Your brain does a good job of trying to resolve this, however by listening to music 24 bit audio or higher resolutions, your brain has less work to do filling in the gaps, so you get more detail, and the listening experience is much more pleasurable.
