Featured product of the week: Naim Uniti Nova
This integrated streaming player/Amp is the big brother to the Uniti Atom, and claims to be the Audiophile version. The Atom itself is a great little box, and does an amazing job, so the Nova has a high bar to get over…
Out of the box, the packaging for the Nova is in the same style as the Atom. This has clearly been inspired by the advances in packaging design popular with mobile phone manufacturers. This all exudes quality, and as the device itself emerges from the folds of the packing, the feeling of quality only increases.
Pluggin the unit in and switching it on is relatively simple. They encourage you to download the App, and this makes logging the unit onto your WiFi easier. That done, the unit first wants to download the latest firmware update – clearly Naim’s development team have continued to be busy since the manufacturing process started. The update only takes a few minutes, and the unit is then ready to delight you.
With our demonstration unit we decided to plug it into a pair of Focal Sopra No2 speakers to see what it could do. Right from the get-go it was tight and focussed with plenty of excitement and dynamics. As it warmed up, a sense of space and a large soundstage revealed itself. There is plenty of controlled power available to drive high quality speakers, and we’ve been delighted to listen to it’s output.
